About the position

The Deputy Chief of Anesthesia is responsible for overseeing anesthesia care, including patient assessment, management during surgical procedures, and supervision of medical personnel. This role involves direct patient care in various settings, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and may include participation in research and quality improvement initiatives. The position requires on-call coverage and administrative involvement in the surgical service.

Responsibilities

• Assess and prepare patients for anesthesia, including pre-operative exams.
• Provide anesthesia care during surgical, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures.
• Manage life functions and vital organs for patients under anesthesia.
• Perform standard techniques in general anesthesia and neuraxial anesthesia.
• Monitor homeostasis during the perioperative period and for critically ill patients.
• Diagnose and treat painful syndromes and manage cardiac and pulmonary resuscitation.
• Evaluate respiratory function and apply respiratory therapy modalities.
• Supervise and teach medical and paramedical personnel in anesthesia.
• Participate in research and quality improvement initiatives.
• Attend surgical and anesthesia team meetings and continuing education activities.

Requirements

• Doctor of podiatric medicine degree from an accredited institution.
• Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program.
• Full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in the U.S.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
