About the position

The Pokémon GO team is seeking a Product Marketing Manager to lead the marketing efforts for tentpole features of the game. This role is pivotal in orchestrating launch plans and implementing strategic growth marketing tactics to maintain and enhance the game's momentum. The individual will be responsible for setting the marketing vision and go-to-market strategies for a game that continues to transform lives and create unforgettable memories. The position requires a blend of creativity and analytical skills to develop comprehensive product marketing plans that align with business growth objectives. In this role, the Product Marketing Manager will collaborate closely with a dedicated team of product managers, game producers, and marketers to conceptualize and execute impactful go-to-market plans. The responsibilities include building and managing the launch strategy for core game features, devising and testing growth marketing levers, and partnering with cross-functional teams to accelerate new and lapsed trainer acquisition opportunities. The manager will oversee all relevant marketing channels, including social media, direct marketing, web, PR, and paid user acquisition. Additionally, the role involves managing the visual asset pipeline, marketing budget, and resource investments to support go-to-market planning. The manager will represent Pokémon GO's business priorities and maintain an integrated cross-marketing feature launch calendar in collaboration with live game and events teams. The position also requires developing creative marketing assets and messaging in partnership with key creative leads and iconic IP partners, while tracking performance goals related to feature adoption and trainer engagement. The successful candidate will analyze product and marketing analytics to suggest improvements and conduct project retrospectives to inform future marketing strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Build, manage, and execute the Go-To-Market and growth marketing strategy for tentpole features.
  • Devise, implement, and test growth marketing levers in partnership with product management, data science, and extended marketing teams.
  • Partner with production, product management, and key cross-functional partners to generate tactics for accelerating new and lapsed trainer acquisition opportunities while supervising all relevant marketing channels.
  • Build, manage, and execute the visual asset pipeline, marketing budget, and resource investments to support go-to-market planning for tentpole feature launches.
  • Represent the Pokémon GO business priorities and manage an integrated cross-marketing feature launch and Go-To-Market calendar in conjunction with live game and live events teams.
  • Develop and drive creative marketing assets, messaging, and positioning in partnership with key creative leads and iconic IP partners.
  • Set, track, and work towards key performance goals including new feature adoption, new/lapsed trainer acquisition, trainer activation, and DAU.
  • Track and interpret product and marketing analytics; suggest improvements or revised marketing strategies, where relevant.
  • Conduct project retrospectives and return on investment analyses on marketing campaigns and apply takeaways to future programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members and stakeholders, including regular and reliable attendance and participation in meetings.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years experience in marketing including product marketing, direct marketing, marketing program management, or marketing consulting.
  • Experience in growth marketing and marketing target forecasting.
  • Experience working on a cross-functional team with ability to lead complex projects with multiple partners and multiple priorities.
  • Strong leadership, initiative, and outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with experience in developing and delivering executive presentations.
  • Strategic problem solver with strong leadership, management, and social skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Niantic's mission.
  • Native in English; business level communication in Japanese is a plus.
  • Able to travel, including domestically within the United States and internationally.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment and handle stress appropriately.
