About the position

As a Retail Customer Service Supervisor at TJ Maxx, you will play a pivotal role in promoting an excellent customer experience while overseeing a team of Associates at the front of the store. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that customers receive prompt and courteous service, while also promoting loyalty programs that enhance customer engagement. You will lead by example, actively engaging with customers and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. This position is not just about managing tasks; it’s about creating a positive atmosphere for both customers and Associates alike. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for training and mentoring Associates on front-end principles, ensuring they understand how to personalize the customer experience effectively. You will assign registers, support POS coverage needs, and coordinate breaks for all Associates, ensuring that the store operates smoothly. Addressing customer concerns and issues promptly will be crucial to maintaining a positive customer experience, and you will be expected to communicate effectively with both management and Associates to set and address priorities. Your leadership will also extend to promoting a culture of honesty and integrity within the team, maintaining confidentiality, and providing recognition and constructive feedback to your team members. You will partner with management to identify training needs for Associates, ensuring that they are equipped to meet the store's goals. Additionally, you will play a role in promoting safety awareness and maintaining a safe environment for both customers and staff. This position may also involve other duties as assigned, making it essential to be adaptable and responsive to the needs of the store.

Responsibilities

  • Create a positive internal and external customer experience
  • Promote a culture of honesty and integrity; maintain confidentiality
  • Take an active role in training and mentoring Associates on front end principles
  • Train and coach Associates on personalizing the customer experience while promoting loyalty programs
  • Assign registers, support and respond to POS coverage needs, and coordinate breaks for all Associates
  • Address customer concerns and issues promptly, ensuring a positive customer experience
  • Ensure Associates execute tasks and activities according to store plan; prioritize as needed
  • Communicate accurately and effectively with management and Associates when setting and addressing priorities; provide progress updates
  • Provide and accept recognition and constructive feedback
  • Partner with Management on Associate training needs to increase effectiveness
  • Ensure adherence to all labor laws, policies, and procedures
  • Promote credit and loyalty programs
  • Support and participate in store shrink reduction goals and programs
  • Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Available to work flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
  • Strong understanding of merchandising techniques
  • Capable of multi-tasking
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Able to respond appropriately to changes in direction or unexpected situations
  • Team player, working effectively with peers and supervisors
  • Able to train others
  • 1 year retail experience
  • 6 months of leadership experience
