About the position

The Police Administrative Assistant for Animal Control at the City of Tacoma provides essential administrative and operational support to the Animal Control Division. Responsibilities

  • Independently dispatch field officers to in-progress animal incidents.
  • Research calls and complaints to keep officers informed of potential issues.
  • Proactively resolve animal control issues by educating citizens about laws and procedures.
  • Manage all administrative functions within the Animal Control Division.
  • Create and maintain administrative processes and procedures.
  • Handle confidential materials and assist with various projects or programs.
  • Coordinate work within the department and with other governmental entities.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of two years of increasingly responsible office work experience.
  • Ability to learn City and governmental policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to use computer applications for data entry and document management.
  • Knowledge of accounting support techniques.
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external customers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in animal control or related fields.
  • Familiarity with governmental structure and processes.
