About the position
The Police Cadet position at the Auburn Hills Police Department (AHPD) is a part-time, non-sworn role designed for Criminal Justice college students. The program aims to provide cadets with exposure to police work, focusing on community policing and problem-oriented policing. Cadets will assist in various departmental functions while maintaining 24/7 service at the front desk, contributing to the department's mission of enhancing community safety and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining 24/7 service at the front desk.
- Engage in community policing activities and programs.
- Support police officers and staff in various departmental functions.
- Participate in training and development opportunities related to law enforcement.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Currently enrolled in a criminal justice program or related field of study.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Working knowledge of computers and electronic data processing.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and interact with the public.
