About the position

The Police Officer - Training Instructor at the Lebanon VA Medical Center is responsible for performing a full range of police duties, including law enforcement, physical security operations, and crime prevention activities. This role involves providing training and education to Veterans Health Administration Police Officers, conducting classroom lectures, and developing training programs to ensure a safe and secure environment for veterans and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Serve and protect Veterans, patients, employees, contractors, volunteers, and affiliates at VA facilities.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment and take charge of significant events.
  • Provide training and education to Veterans Health Administration Police Officers.
  • Conduct classroom lectures, presentations, and skills demonstrations.
  • Develop, present, deliver, and coordinate training programs.
  • Prepare lesson plans and training materials for class participants.
  • Modify training curriculum as needed based on assessments.
  • Establish and maintain a statistical database of training requirements, schedules, rosters, and training results.
  • Conduct research to assess training needs and programs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted state driver's license and have a safe driving record.
  • Must pass a medical examination and psychological evaluation.
  • Must complete an 8-10 week course at the VA Law Enforcement Training Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
  • Must achieve and maintain qualification/certification with agency-approved firearms.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service.
