About the position

The Police Officer Recruit/Trainee position is an entry-level role designed for individuals aspiring to become certified police officers. This role involves participating in structured training at a police academy, as well as customized departmental training and field training. The primary responsibility is to protect life and property, enforce laws, and engage with the community through community policing strategies.

Responsibilities

• Perform law enforcement patrol activities.
• Operate a motor vehicle to monitor compliance with laws and safety standards.
• Pursue and stop offenders, using necessary force when appropriate.
• Issue citations and make arrests; search persons and places, and seize property and evidence.
• Mediates disputes and performs crowd control activities.
• Conduct law enforcement investigations and gather evidence.
• Prepare detailed written reports of investigative findings and perform data entry into records management systems.
• Respond to citizen requests for assistance and administer first aid when necessary.
• Direct traffic and assist distressed motorists.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be at least 20 years and 6 months of age at the time of application.
• Must be a United States Citizen.
• Valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations in the past 39 months.
• Obtain and maintain AZPOST Certification.
• Must reside in the State of Arizona during employment.
