About the position

As an Autonomous Systems and Robotics Specialist for the CIA, you will be at the forefront of research and design in autonomous robotic capabilities aimed at data collection. Your role will involve conducting in-depth research on control systems and utilizing a variety of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, including deep learning, machine learning, multi-agent systems, expert systems, and mixed-initiative human-machine teaming. These advanced AI solutions are designed to enhance the performance of our collection systems, enabling quicker, deeper, and more comprehensible insights from the data we gather. Ultimately, your work will facilitate improved human-machine collaboration, ensuring that the right insights are algorithmically presented to the right experts, thereby boosting the effectiveness of our mission experts. The CIA's collection systems provide specialized insights across a diverse array of phenomena and data types. Your AI work will span the Agency, focusing on edge processing, core processing, and autonomous capabilities. You will collaborate with teams of world-class experts, both within the CIA and externally, often leading large collaborative efforts. Your contributions will be realized through the use of advanced hardware, software, and computational platforms, emphasizing scalable and efficient solutions that bring exploitation capabilities into production and address some of the nation's most challenging national security issues. Problem-solving in this role is highly collaborative. You will engage with domain experts, data and collection specialists, systems designers, integrators, and analysts who will interpret the insights you derive. Continuous development of your expertise will be supported through Agency-sponsored education, academic participation, and integrated on-the-job training with deep domain experts. At the CIA, we value the diversity of our workforce, recognizing that our strength lies in the varied backgrounds and perspectives of our employees. This diversity is crucial to our mission of national security, and it is reflected in our collaborative work environment.
