About the position

The CIA Police Officer role within the Security Protective Service (SPS) is focused on safeguarding Agency personnel, facilities, and information by enforcing Federal laws and Agency regulations. Officers are responsible for controlling access to Agency facilities, responding to emergencies, and maintaining public order. This position requires participation in extensive training programs and the ability to perform law enforcement duties effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Protect CIA personnel, facilities, and information through enforcement of Federal laws and Agency regulations.
  • Control access to and egress from Agency facilities to mitigate hostile threats.
  • Exercise full law enforcement authority, including making arrests and enforcing traffic laws.
  • Respond to emergencies on Agency facilities, providing basic first aid, trauma response, CPR, and AED response.
  • Maintain public order during emergencies and facilitate safe evacuations when necessary.
  • Represent the Agency and communicate effectively with the public.
  • Complete an intensive twelve-week Uniformed Police Training Program at FLETC or qualify for a waiver.
  • Participate in annual in-service training to maintain and enhance skills.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Physically and psychologically fit for duty.
  • Successful completion of the SPS/CIA Police Pre-Employment Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB).
  • No record of felony convictions or domestic violence.
  • Ability to meet minimum requirements for joining CIA, including a background investigation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior military, police, or security experience.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
