About the position

The Police Officer (Uniformed Division) position involves providing protection for key government locations and officials, including The White House Complex and foreign diplomatic missions. Officers are responsible for enforcing protective responsibilities and may be required to travel domestically and internationally to support various missions. This role requires a commitment to maintaining firearm proficiency and completing extensive training.

Responsibilities

  • Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, and foreign diplomatic missions.
  • Traveling in support of Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
  • Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Possess a current valid driver's license.
  • Be less than age 37 at the time of receiving a conditional offer of employment unless exempt due to previous service.
  • Submit to a drug test prior to appointment and random drug testing thereafter.
  • Carry and use a firearm, maintaining firearm proficiency is mandatory.
  • Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center.
  • Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular and corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.
  • Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in specified frequency ranges.
  • Obtain and retain a Top-Secret Clearance.
