About the position

The Police Officer position at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) is responsible for providing law enforcement services to the campus community. This role involves responding to emergencies, enforcing laws, and ensuring the safety and security of the university environment.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to calls of police service involving a wide variety of activity.
  • Document all incidents both criminal and non-criminal utilizing the CLERK system.
  • Enforce criminal and traffic laws as well as university rules and regulations.
  • Arrest, cite, or refer persons as appropriate when in violation.
  • Testify in court for criminal and traffic offenses.
  • Patrol property both on and off campus by foot, bike, cart, or motor vehicle.
  • Provide security during special details and escorts when requested.
  • Unlock doors and buildings, assist with vehicle jumpstarts and unlocks, and assist other divisions within the University Police Department as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One (1) year of related experience in law enforcement.
  • Basic peace officer certification through TCOLE or currently enrolled in a Police Academy for Police Officer I.
  • Intermediate peace officer certification through TCOLE for Police Officer II.
  • Advanced peace officer certification through TCOLE for Police Officer III.
  • Master peace officer certification through TCOLE for Police Officer IV.
  • Ability to work shift work and pass a firearms qualification.
  • Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with all segments of the campus population.
