The Police Officer position at the Northern Arizona VA Healthcare System in Prescott, Arizona, involves performing a full range of police duties to ensure a safe and secure environment across various VA properties. Responsibilities

• Protect the civil rights of all individuals on VA controlled property.
• Prevent, detect, and investigate crimes.
• Patrol assigned areas on foot or by motor vehicle.
• Subdue persons causing disturbance or who threaten harm to themselves or others.
• Follow rules/procedures concerning search and seizure of evidence and contraband.
• Obtain search and arrest warrants.
• Arrest violators.
• Provide basic first aid and CPR prior to the arrival of emergency medical personnel.
• Prepare reports of activities and events that occurred during the shift.
• Perform traffic control.
• Assist citizens in emergency situations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in Federal service.
• Knowledge of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques.
• Ability to maintain order and protect life and property.
• Valid, unrestricted State driver's license.
• Ability to qualify for and carry a firearm.
• Completion of an 8-week course at the VA Law Enforcement Training Center.
