Responsibilities

• Protect civil rights of individuals on VA property
• Prevent, detect, and investigate crimes
• Patrol assigned areas on foot or by motor vehicle
• Subdue individuals causing disturbances or threats
• Follow procedures for search and seizure of evidence
• Obtain search and arrest warrants
• Arrest violators
• Provide basic first aid and CPR
• Prepare reports of activities during shifts
• Perform traffic control and assist citizens in emergencies
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required
• Must pass a background investigation
• Must pass a drug test
• Must complete an 8-week training course at the VA Law Enforcement Training Center
• Must pass a medical examination and psychological evaluation
• Must possess a valid state driver's license
• Must qualify to carry a firearm

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in law enforcement or military police
