About the position

The Phoenix Police Department is seeking a Police Research Supervisor to join the Compliance and Oversight Bureau. This role is designed for a seasoned data research specialist who will lead and oversee both sworn and civilian personnel. The supervisor will be responsible for presenting statistical data to executive staff and community members, supporting the Early Identification and Intervention Program (EIIP), and conducting independent research. The position emphasizes continuous improvement, integrity, and exceptional customer service, requiring strong leadership and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Present statistical data to executive staff and community members.
  • Support the Early Identification and Intervention Program (EIIP) by monitoring use-of-force incidents and other performance metrics.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with Arizona State University for ongoing projects.
  • Oversee various grant-related activities.
  • Conduct independent research and perform organizational planning and analysis.
  • Publish regular reports and findings.
  • Provide in-person training within the bureau and present information to command staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or a related field.
  • Four years of experience performing applied research at a professional level, with two years in a law enforcement agency.
  • Lead or supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Policy writing and implementation experience.
  • 3+ years of experience conducting data analysis and statistics, dashboarding, and data visualization.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience and management of projects.
  • Experience with tools such as Microsoft Excel, ESRI ArcGIS, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Visio, Canva, Venngage, and Power BI.
