About the position

The Alaska Department of Health (DOH) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Project Coordinator to serve as a Policy Advisor to the Chief Medical Officer. This role is pivotal in enhancing the health and well-being of Alaskans through effective policy and program analysis. The successful candidate will function as an aide and advisor to the Chief Medical Officer, engaging in a variety of responsibilities that include designing, managing, and conducting thorough analyses of health programs within the department. This position requires active participation in interagency meetings and collaboration with external partners to ensure that the department's initiatives align with the broader health goals of the state. In this role, the Policy Advisor will assist in preparing recommendations for legislative, regulatory, and policy changes that are essential for the department to operate effectively. A significant aspect of the job involves co-managing the Complex Care Program, which aims to address the needs of individuals with complex health issues. The advisor will also be responsible for preparing briefings, presentations, and materials for both internal and external meetings of the Chief Medical Officer. This includes researching, analyzing, and synthesizing information on a wide range of health topics, and preparing briefs, memos, and presentations that will be delivered by the Chief Medical Officer. Responsibilities

  • Function as an aide and advisor to the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Design, manage, and conduct policy and program analysis of Department of Health programs.

  • Co-manage the Complex Care Program development.
