About the position

Kadiak, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Policy Analyst I to support the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Counterterrorism. This role requires a TS/SCI Security Clearance and involves a hybrid work model with four days onsite. The Policy Analyst will engage with various bureaus and interagency partners to advance counterterrorism policies, support diplomatic engagements, and conduct research and outreach related to international organizations and NGOs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a policy analyst in the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Counterterrorism.
  • Liaise with regional and functional bureaus within the Department of State and the interagency to communicate effectively and advance policy.
  • Advise the Office Director and Deputy Director on special projects in coordination with relevant bureaus.
  • Support bilateral and multilateral diplomatic engagements involving the Secretary of State and other principals.
  • Participate in interagency meetings and prepare leadership for local and international meetings, speeches, and presentations.
  • Conduct outreach to manage relationships with international organizations and NGOs.
  • Research, prepare, and review policy papers and briefing checklists on key topics.
  • Support the organization and conduct of conferences and meetings as assigned.
  • Support other projects as directed, including high-level USG visits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 plus years of experience preferred.
  • Preferred areas of study include international studies, political science, national security, foreign policy, humanitarian assistance, foreign assistance, or counterterrorism.
  • State Department policy experience preferred, or policy experience in another federal agency related to foreign policy or counterterrorism.
  • Ability to be available for up to 20% overseas travel.
  • Ability to brief and work effectively with high-ranking officials of the State Department and foreign governments.
  • Understanding of the paper process and procedures at the State Department.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and retain policies and viewpoints related to current foreign policy situations.
  • Understanding of interagency coordination and how to work across multiple organizations.
  • Logistics experience related to convening or organizing meetings or conferences.
  • TS/SCI Security Clearance required.
