The Policy Cyber SME II position at Culmen International is designed to provide specialized subject matter expertise (SME) to the Office of Science and Engineering, specifically within the Technology Centers Division and the Advanced Computing Branch focusing on Cybersecurity Research. The role is critical in enhancing the organization's capabilities to identify, prevent, protect, detect, and defend against intrusions targeting cyber-physical systems and networks. This position is integral to the development and evaluation of policies and governance related to the government's use of cybersecurity strategies and techniques. In this role, the SME will assist in advising leadership on scientific concepts, potential threats, and the impacts of cyber-attacks. The position requires a critical assessment of survey papers, technical reports, and findings to identify the trajectory of research in cybersecurity. The SME will coordinate with experts from various agencies to analyze malicious cyber-attack activities and provide significant technical input into the development of policies, procedures, and technologies aimed at countering cyber threats. The position also involves preparing and presenting high-quality technical content at various speaking engagements, both live and online. The candidate must be able to travel domestically, up to 10% of the time, and will primarily work remotely with potential travel to conferences and meetings at the Washington, DC headquarters. This role demands a high level of expertise and the ability to work autonomously in identifying, solving, and reporting on research and development topics relevant to the Homeland Security Enterprise.
