About the position

The Policy Lead for Search and Commerce at Google is responsible for developing and implementing content policies that prioritize user safety, product quality, and privacy. This role involves anticipating policy issues related to emerging Generative AI risks and content moderation, collaborating with cross-functional teams globally, and addressing high-profile policy issues from various stakeholders. The position requires a strategic thinker who can influence product decisions and enhance user experience while ensuring compliance with established policies.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate policy issues across emerging Generative AI risks, commerce and shopping journeys, and content moderation policies.
  • Lead, develop, and implement content policies for Google products with a focus on user safety, product quality, and privacy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally to ensure comprehensive policy analysis and recommendations.
  • Resolve high-profile policy issues arising from public, users, and internal stakeholders.
  • Review or be exposed to sensitive or graphic content as part of the core role.
  • Conduct research to set industry standards and promote awareness of Google’s policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • JD, MBA, or Master's degree.
  • Experience with policy (e.g., harmful content, privacy, AI).
  • Experience with strategy and stakeholder engagement.
  • Familiarity with Google products, especially Search.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
