About the position

The Policy Lead for Trust and Safety in User Generated Content at Google is responsible for addressing significant challenges related to user safety and product integrity. This role involves collaborating with various teams to develop and implement policies that protect users and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The position requires a strategic thinker who can navigate complex issues in a fast-paced environment, focusing on promoting trust and safety across Google's diverse product offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure policy analysis and recommendations consider all teams' perspectives.
  • Resolve high-profile policy issues coming from the public, regulators, users, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Influence product decisions and prioritization to improve user experience.
  • Drive research and collaboration to set industry standards.
  • Advance education around the first principles that define our approach to trust risk areas.
  • Work with sensitive content or situations and potentially be exposed to graphic, controversial, or upsetting topics or content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a policy, legal, trust and safety, or technology environment.
  • 5 years of experience in relevant policy or product roles.

Nice-to-haves

  • JD or Master's degree.
  • Experience with cloud technology.
  • Experience with policy and knowledge of the technology sector and key policy issues affecting the internet (e.g., harmful content, privacy, AI).
  • Experience with advanced product/program management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $125,000-$185,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
