About the position

The Polysomnographer (Per Diem) at Sauk Prairie Healthcare is responsible for conducting comprehensive sleep studies, including preparation, monitoring, interpreting, and scoring polysomnograms. This role involves patient interaction, equipment management, and collaboration with sleep physicians to ensure quality care for patients with sleep disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct 16-channel Polysomnogram including preparation, monitoring, interpreting, titrating, and scoring sleep studies.
  • Verify insurance information and pre-authorizations prior to arranging polysomnogram.
  • Contact patients to arrange polysomnogram and send information letters.
  • Explain CPAP, BiPAP, and Auto Servo Ventilation (ASV) principles to patients.
  • Measure and wire patients to the mini box for each of the 16-channels.
  • Measure patients for the correct size CPAP mask.
  • Identify respiratory events for CPAP/BiPAP trial qualification.
  • Titrate CPAP/BiPAP for sleep apnea as appropriate.
  • Identify and mark Periodic Leg Movements (PLM's).
  • Score sleep studies including stages of sleep, arousals, respiratory events, and PLM's.
  • Prepare preliminary reports for the sleep physician.
  • Schedule Out-of-Center Sleep Testing (OCST) for qualifying patients.
  • Assist in Sleep Clinic, track Quality Assurance measures, data entry, and chart assembly.
  • Inventory and maintain appropriate equipment in the sleep center, including monthly checks on CPAP/BiPAP machines.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a polysomnography program accredited by CAAHEP or CoARC with polysomnography specialty option or A-STEP introductory program and modules.
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist certification within one year from hire date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3-5 years of experience with the ALICE system.
