About the position

The Polysomnographic Technician will work under the supervision of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This role involves conducting sleep tests, performing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and ensuring high-quality patient care and education.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and ensures the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality technical services in the sleep lab.
  • Provides patient care and operates equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, including Polysomnographic Testing, CPAP Titration, and Multiple Sleep Latency Testing (MSLT).
  • Documents physiological activity and abnormal readings, providing detailed reports for physicians.
  • Calibrates, maintains, and cleans equipment used in the department.
  • Utilizes appropriate patient/family teaching methods to meet education needs for pre and post procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of scoring parameters.

Requirements

  • Preferred Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT).
  • Six months of healthcare experience or current enrollment in an accredited educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree in sleep technology or equivalent education and experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association prior to start.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic knowledge of safety and maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of sleep disorders and treatment.
  • Experience operating equipment used in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
  • Ability to explain technical information.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare written reports.
  • Good computer skills.
