The Polysomnographic Technician plays a crucial role in the Sleep Center, performing high-quality polysomnography testing under the supervision of senior staff and physicians. This position requires technical expertise in sleep studies and the ability to provide appropriate care for patients of various ages. The technician is responsible for monitoring and documenting patient events during sleep studies, ensuring the proper functioning of equipment, and assisting in training new staff.

  • Perform non-invasive polysomnography using 16 or more channels.
  • Correctly and accurately place PSG monitors including EMG, EKG, EEG, Oximeter, and other necessary sensors.
  • Perform CPAP/Bi Level titrations under supervision.
  • Administer Oxygen under supervision of a registered tech.
  • Chart all patient events, behaviors, and information accurately.
  • Utilize the Hospital Meditech computer system for documentation.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, calibration, minor repairs, cleaning, and disinfecting of equipment.
  • Stock supplies and perform clerical duties as needed.
  • Assist in training other Sleep Disorder Technicians.
  • Evaluate new equipment for the lab and stay current on sleep literature and technologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis in polysomnography or equivalent training.
  • California State Polysomnographic Technologist (RPT) license required.
  • Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists required.
  • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards required.
  • One (1) year experience in Sleep Lab or EEG required.
