About the position

The Polysomnography Technologist 2 is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the Sleep Laboratory, ensuring quality monitoring, staff performance, and equipment maintenance. This role involves educating patients and families about sleep disorders and treatments, consulting with physicians regarding patient results, and performing polysomnographic studies in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform polysomnographic studies, including oxygen and nasal CPAP titrations.
• Score studies and formulate reports for physician interpretation.
• Document all pertinent patient events according to department policy.
• Communicate instructions, results, and relevant information to patients, physicians, and family members.
• Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on equipment, contacting manufacturers for repairs as needed.
• Notify proper personnel for equipment problems and ensure infection control by cleaning all equipment.
• Consult regularly with the Medical Director regarding patient studies.
• Maintain standards for Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Control measurements.
• Orient and train new Sleep Lab employees.
• Establish and implement performance improvements including education and staff development.
• Communicate concerns and/or problems with possible solutions to the Department Manager or Director.
• Maintain a current and complete Policy and Procedure Manual.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
• 2 years of experience in a related field.
• Certification as a Polysomnography Tech (POLYTECH).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or CPR required.
