About the position

The Population Research Center (PRC) at Portland State University is seeking a Post-doctoral Researcher to engage in demographic research with significant public policy applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a statistical framework for the computation of confidence or credible intervals through simulation or other methods. This framework will be based on a method for generating small area estimates derived from census and survey data. The role involves allocating data from high-level geographies to more granular geographic levels using weighting surfaces computed from correlated small area data. This position is a full-time role with a proposed start date of July 16, 2024, and a fixed term end date of July 15, 2025. The position offers a variable full-time equivalent (FTE) between 0.5 and 1.0, starting at 1.0 FTE, and is part of a 12-month term of service.
