About the position

The Porter / Maintenance position at FirstService Residential is a full-time role based in Port Aransas, TX, responsible for ensuring that assigned areas of communities and common areas are maintained in a clean, orderly, and luxurious condition. This includes cleaning tasks and moderate maintenance duties to support the overall upkeep of the property for residents, employees, and the public. The role requires adherence to company standards and procedures for cleaning, maintenance, and customer service, ensuring that all tasks are performed efficiently and effectively. In this position, the individual will be expected to provide five-star customer service by responding promptly to work order requests and other communications. The responsibilities include assisting with general repairs such as light carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and masonry, as well as performing light locksmithing tasks. The Porter will also maintain logs of work order requests and their statuses, ensuring that all resident and guest concerns are addressed professionally and in a timely manner. The role involves operating various mechanized cleaning equipment and handling cleaning solvents and chemicals while complying with safety regulations. The Porter will be responsible for maintaining assigned equipment, inventorying maintenance supplies, and ensuring that work areas are organized and secure. Additionally, the position may require overtime and adherence to company safety procedures, with the expectation of performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provide five-star customer service by responding to work order requests and other communications in a timely manner.
• Assist with general repairs including light carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and masonry.
• Maintain logs of work order requests and their statuses in the company application.
• Ensure resident and guest concerns are resolved professionally and promptly.
• Assist Porters with cleaning and maintenance duties such as sweeping, mopping, and trash disposal.
• Operate various mechanized cleaning equipment like vacuums and pressure washers.
• Handle cleaning solvents and chemicals while complying with safety regulations.
• Maintain assigned equipment in good working condition and inventory maintenance supplies.
• Act as a liaison for reporting needed repairs to the manager.
• Facilitate company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• Three years of maintenance support experience strongly preferred.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Strong maintenance background with 3+ years of related work experience.
• Experience using hand and electrical tools.
• Strong working knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
• Excellent interpersonal, mechanical, and communication skills.
• Self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong time management skills and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and documents.
