About the position

The Porter/Utility position at Van Dyk Park Place involves supporting the kitchen operations in an assisted living facility. The role focuses on maintaining cleanliness, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring compliance with dietary procedures and safety regulations. This part-time position is essential for providing a safe and sanitary environment for food service, contributing to the overall well-being of residents.

Responsibilities

• Assures that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
• Develops and maintains a good working rapport with interdepartmental personnel and other departments within the facility.
• Assists in daily and scheduled cleaning duties according to established policies and procedures.
• Works the dishwashing station as needed and maintains all temperature logs.
• Cleans work areas, refrigerators, freezers, etc. as assigned and maintains all temperature logs.
• Organizes stock rooms and walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
• Puts away inventory from deliveries.
• Returns clean utensils to proper storage areas.
• Attends and participates in in-service education programs.
• Prepares food in accordance with sanitary regulations and established policies and procedures.
• Ensures that safety regulations are always followed.
• Follows established infection/exposure control and universal precautions policies and procedures.
• Assures that the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available.
• Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to the executive chef and/or administration.
• Performs other related duties as required or directed.

Requirements

• Ability to follow dietary procedures and safety regulations.
• Experience in kitchen or food service environment preferred.
