About the position

The Portfolio Analyst - Commercial Real Estate role at Berkadia involves acting as a liaison among various stakeholders in the loan administration process. The analyst is responsible for analyzing property performance, ensuring compliance with financial requirements, and identifying potential risks at both loan and portfolio levels. Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between investor, mortgage banker, underwriter, and borrower in loan administration.
  • Administer defined procedures, analyses, and reports, referring complex work to senior staff.
  • Analyze property level performance to assess financial ability to meet debt service requirements.
  • Identify trends in financial statements that may concern investors or other parties.
  • Analyze real estate collateral data and perform financial analyses according to investor requirements.
  • Review property inspections to ensure compliance with lender standards and document any concerns.
  • Work with Portfolio Managers on updating investor Watchlist reports and related documentation.
  • Identify areas of risk at both loan and portfolio levels for further review.
  • Collect updated rent roll and leasing information to analyze property performance.
  • Review loan documents in conjunction with Watchlist triggers.
  • Provide investors with timely and accurate information based on specific requirements.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers with borrower requests including lease reviews and modifications.
  • Provide market data research reports using tools such as Costar.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in real estate, business, or finance concentration or at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Understanding of financial statement and cash flow analysis.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with loan servicing software such as McCracken/Strategy.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Professional attitude and willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with loan servicing software such as McCracken/Strategy.
  • Previous experience in commercial real estate analysis.
