About the position

The Business Portfolio Analyst/Manager plays a critical role in managing the product innovation portfolio for a forward-thinking life sciences company. This position is essential for shaping and executing the innovation strategy by collaborating with various teams, providing insightful portfolio reviews, and informing leadership about the innovation pipeline, product performance, and strategic goals. The role involves data analysis, performance tracking, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure effective integration of innovation initiatives into the overall portfolio execution.

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate and analyze data sets to create impactful portfolio overviews and dashboards.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews with senior leadership to improve competitiveness and ROI.
  • Generate data-driven insights on market trends and performance to optimize the portfolio.
  • Build and update scorecards for performance tracking and gap bridging.
  • Collaborate with Product Development and Product Managers on multi-year and product roadmaps.
  • Manage the innovation planning and funding process, extracting project data for analysis.
  • Partner with corporate functions to align projects with strategic goals and enhance product launch effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement to maximize efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Accounting, Business Management, Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in portfolio management, financial analysis, or business analysis.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets.
  • Experience in financial modeling and forecasting in Excel.
  • Proficient in financial analysis and metrics.
  • Excellent communication skills for data presentation and visualization.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills; experience with Tableau, PowerBI, and ThinkCell is a plus.
  • Understanding of roadmap building, scenario tradeoffs, and portfolio optimization.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or master's in business Analytics preferred.
  • Experience in a matrixed environment with strong presentation and negotiating skills.
