About the position

The Portfolio Management Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the Commercial Portfolio Manager and VP of Commercial Portfolio Management by overseeing the commercial loan portfolio. This position involves conducting Annual Loan Reviews, analyzing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements to manage portfolio risk effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Portfolio Management and Special Asset Departments with reporting, analysis, and general administrative functions.
  • Perform regular commercial loan portfolio reviews covering asset quality, documentation, compliance, and data entry.
  • Help ensure the creditworthiness of the loan portfolio by reviewing lending practices and adverse asset classification.
  • Validate the accuracy of the credit grading / loan rating system.
  • Identify and evaluate portfolio trends related to delinquency, bankruptcy, demographics, and loan programs.
  • Monitor portfolio diversification in accordance with policy guidance and strategic plan.
  • Stress test the loan portfolio or individual loans for risk monitoring.
  • Verify quality, completeness, and accuracy of supporting loan documentation and analysis.
  • Perform regular back-end review of financials and related analysis, including financial statements and cash flow statements.
  • Monitor borrower outreach by Loan Officers to ensure active management of borrower relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Commercial Credit Analyst, Portfolio Management Associate, and/or Commercial Loan Officer.
  • Demonstrated strength in credit analysis and financial analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong analytical, technical, and statistical skills.
  • Sound working knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Capability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of lenders, managers, and/or regulatory officials.
  • Thorough knowledge of lending laws and regulations.
