About the position

The main purpose of this job is to manage assigned client portfolios, which includes establishing investment objectives, asset allocation, selection of specific securities, investment performance reporting, and providing client service. As a Portfolio Manager at Commerce Trust, you will play a crucial role in the wealth management services provided by the bank, which has been a leading provider in this field for over a century. Your responsibilities will involve participating in leadership activities, including policy and strategy committees, and serving as a resource for other members of the department. You will meet with assigned clients regularly to provide portfolio and investment reporting, as well as make investment recommendations as appropriate. In this role, you will determine the appropriate investment objectives for assigned client portfolios, working closely with clients and administrative officers as necessary. You will also provide clients with information regarding general market and economic conditions, ensuring that your insights are consistent with the investment and economic market outlook. Regular reviews of existing client portfolios will be essential to ensure that investment objectives are being met and that portfolios comply with investment objectives and Commerce security-specific recommendations. Timely implementation of security-specific recommendations in assigned client portfolios is a key aspect of this position. You will be expected to proactively discuss any investment or client problems and concerns with leadership to promote timely resolution of outstanding issues. Additionally, you will provide support to the investment committees by supplying complete and timely information about assigned client portfolios. Maintaining a constructive and proactive working relationship with private client associates will be vital to ensure timely client service. You will also participate in new business development and perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team and the bank.

Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 6+ years of trust, bank, or investment management experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of portfolio management.
  • Understanding of various types of accounts and investment management.
  • Advanced presentation skills and well-developed negotiation skills.
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and meet Commerce Bank's driving record criteria.
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient with an optimistic outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation preferred.
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation preferred.
  • Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
