About the position

The Portfolio Manager II will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing renewable energy assets, including solar, wind, and energy storage systems. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the commercial, contractual, regulatory, and reporting obligations associated with a medium number of operating portfolios. The successful candidate will lead cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with project agreements and drive the effective execution of various scopes of work. The role involves onboarding new portfolios and projects, assisting team members in tracking ongoing tasks, and becoming an expert user of the Digital platform and other standard tools to enhance workflow efficiency. In addition to managing the onboarding process, the Portfolio Manager II will review and approve performance and financial reports for operating projects, develop standard and ad hoc reports, and coordinate with the Technical Asset Management team to optimize project performance. The role also includes financial responsibilities such as billing, revenue tracking, and managing invoicing processes. The candidate will be expected to track project performance data and utilize this information for analysis and reporting, providing meaningful recommendations to clients. The Portfolio Manager II will manage document administration, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations such as FERC and EIA submissions. Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including project owners, investors, and O&M providers, is crucial. The candidate will lead meetings, organize agendas, and drive initiatives for the larger PM team. This role also includes personnel management responsibilities, such as developing compensation plans, career coaching, and training for direct reports, while fostering a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams to support management of client's renewable energy assets.
  • Drive optimization of all portfolios and ensure effective execution of various scopes of work.
  • Understand and manage commercial, contractual, regulatory, and reporting obligations for operating portfolios.
  • Lead the onboarding of new portfolios and projects, assisting teams in the process.
  • Track and fulfill ongoing tasks and deliverables, becoming an expert user of the Digital platform.
  • Review and approve performance and financial reports for operating projects.
  • Coordinate with Technical Asset Management and manage contracts for O&M personnel.
  • Assist Financial Asset Management in billing, revenue tracking, and other financial deliverables.
  • Track project performance, weather, and operational data for analysis and reporting.
  • Manage document administration and data rooms for project-specific documents.
  • Coordinate and submit regulatory compliance obligations with internal and external support.
  • Manage relationships with key project stakeholders and lead meetings with clients and external parties.
  • Increase expertise in renewable energy asset management and become a subject matter expert.
  • Lead projects and drive activities for multiple portfolios of varying size and complexity.
  • Manage at least 3 direct reports, providing coaching and training.
  • Participate in developing initiatives for the larger PM team.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years managing direct reports.
  • 4-6 years of experience in renewable energy asset management or operations.
  • Exemplary client management and communication skills.
  • Experience with performance data analysis and project-specific recommendations.
  • Experience managing budgets and utilizing complex financial models.
  • Proven documentation, presentation, and communication skills with senior management.
  • University Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Energy Studies, Environmental Studies, technical Engineering, or related field.
