About the position

The Portfolio Manager - Resolution Strategist is responsible for the proactive management of IFF Watch Loans and Problem Loans post-close, ensuring borrower compliance, identifying areas of risk, and evaluating long-term viability. This role is crucial in mitigating potential defaults and loan losses while supporting targeted nonprofits in obtaining loans and financial assistance. The position emphasizes a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, aiming to create positive economic and racial justice outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of 15-20 problem loans, actively working with assigned non-performing relationships.
  • Review credit and collateral files to understand IFF's rights under loan documents and assess collateral documentation adequacy.
  • Maintain proper risk ratings per Loan Policy and best practices, monitoring delinquencies to resolve payment problems.
  • Formulate strategies for relationships within the Resolution Strategies portfolio to help customers succeed and minimize financial loss.
  • Participate in loan committees and communicate recommendations to IFF's participants and partners.
  • Work with legal counsel on renewals and restructuring of credit relationships, initiating new loan documentation as needed.
  • Provide periodic reviews of assigned credit relationships to validate risk ratings and borrowers' ability to repay.
  • Maintain borrower/asset information and documentation, including loan files and Resolution Strategy reports.
  • Perform periodic site visits to assess borrower's financial health and collateral condition.
  • Assist in maintaining and monitoring a list of Watch Loans and coordinate monthly Watch Loan Meetings.
  • Assist in conducting quarterly Resolution Strategy Meetings.
  • Manage relationships professionally and respectfully during difficult situations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, or finance preferred, or 3+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or credit analysis for commercial, industrial, and nonprofit organizations.
  • Demonstrated competencies in commercial portfolio compliance, high-level credit and financial analysis, underwriting policies, and loan restructuring.
  • Familiarity with nonprofits including Charter Schools, Federal Qualified Health Centers, Social Service Agencies, Grocery stores, and Community Development Corporations.
  • Knowledgeable in property and liability insurance, as well as property taxes.
  • High level written and oral presentation skills, solid Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel), and strong follow-up and execution skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Commercial real estate experience is a plus.
