About the position

The Portfolio Manager role at Texas Capital Bank is a critical position within the Credit Administration team, designed to support the Mortgage Finance line of business with a specific focus on structured products. This role is integral to the success of various business lines, helping to drive the strategic vision set forth by the bank. The Portfolio Manager is responsible for overseeing the underwriting process for all credit requests, collaborating closely with Analysts, Associates, and Relationship Managers to assess potential risks and identify cross-sell opportunities. This position requires a proactive approach to maximize portfolio performance and the ability to lead deals from opportunity to closure with minimal oversight. In this role, the Portfolio Manager will monitor portfolio quality against established criteria and recommend adjustments to existing credit facilities as necessary. The position demands efficient follow-up and the ability to spearhead processes that ensure best-in-class customer service. The Portfolio Manager acts as an internal consultant and liaison between Credit and the Line of Business, ensuring that all credit-related responsibilities are managed effectively. This includes oversight of financial statement analysis, risk rating assessments, and the management of credit approvals for new customers, modifications, renewals, and risk assessments. The successful candidate will be adept at processing large amounts of information and communicating clearly and concisely. They will develop innovative solutions for clients while maintaining a strong attention to detail. The role also involves client management, including day-to-day needs, contact meetings, and site visits, with direct client contact expected. Additionally, the Portfolio Manager will conduct in-depth analyses of macroeconomic conditions, industry trends, and changes in lending practices, while also identifying cross-sell opportunities and partnering with the Special Assets Group for credit requests as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of credit related responsibilities for the Analysts and Associates, including financial statement spreading and validation of various underwriting models
  • Responsible for risk rating assessment and periodic relationship reviews
  • Partner with Relationship Manager in credit agreement review and negotiation
  • Ownership of all credit approvals (new customers, modifications, renewals, increases, risk assessments)
  • Identification of key risks and issues pertinent to each credit request, including potential mitigants for identified risks
  • Ownership of policy exception identification
  • Direct and manage portfolio reviews
  • Validate covenant compliance and covenant management
  • Ownership of post-approval modifications to ensure accurate reporting of credit exposure
  • Client management, including assisting of day-to-day needs, contact meetings, and site visits
  • Client management in SalesForce
  • Oversight and in-depth analysis of macroeconomic conditions, industry trends and changes in lending practices
  • Ownership of portfolio reporting and analytics: grade-migration, past-dues, exceptions, coming-due maturities, etc.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities
  • Partner with Special Assets Group for credit requests (as needed)
  • Lead and/or support key initiatives to drive improvements in the delivery of credit solutions for clients and prospects

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Commercial Banking or equivalent/relevant program
  • 5+ years' experience in Mortgage Warehouse Lending, Securitization, or Corporate Banking with formal Credit training
  • Exceptional writing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Extraordinary levels of motivation and initiative
  • Effective team players who want to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and build working relationships across the organization
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint in order to produce reports, memos, and presentations
  • Ability to live and work in Dallas
