About the position

The Portfolio Manager at Chandler Asset Management plays a crucial role in the financial landscape of the firm, focusing on the meticulous management of client portfolios. This position requires seamless integration with the Investment Management Team and active participation in various committees, ensuring that the firm remains responsive to market developments and strategic decision-making. The Portfolio Manager will work closely with senior portfolio managers and Chief Investment Officers (CIOs) to formulate and document investment strategies and processes, contributing to the overall success of the firm. In this role, the Portfolio Manager is responsible for conducting daily management of client portfolios, ensuring alignment with clients' investment goals and risk profiles. This includes providing research support to Senior Portfolio Managers, enhancing credit analysis skills across various sectors, and offering valuable insights for the Credit Committee. Active engagement in Portfolio Management committees is essential, as is staying informed about financial market trends to make informed decisions that reflect the current economic environment. The Portfolio Manager will also facilitate open discussions within the Investment Management Team, encouraging the exchange of ideas and collaborative problem-solving. Comprehensive documentation for investment strategies and operational procedures must be created to maintain a consistent approach to portfolio management. Additionally, collaboration with the Marketing department is necessary to analyze new business Requests for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring that portfolio management perspectives are well-represented. The role also involves producing in-depth "white papers" on relevant investment topics and delivering presentations under the guidance of the CIOs, as well as representing the firm at industry conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily management of client portfolios, ensuring alignment with clients' investment goals and risk profiles.
  • Provide research support to Senior Portfolio Managers, focusing on credit analysis skills and insights for the Credit Committee.
  • Engage actively in Portfolio Management committees, contributing to discussions and decision-making processes.
  • Stay informed about financial market trends to make informed investment decisions.
  • Facilitate open discussions within the Investment Management Team to encourage idea exchange and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for investment strategies and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing department to analyze new business Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Produce in-depth white papers on relevant investment topics and deliver presentations under the guidance of the CIOs.
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, serving as a knowledgeable point of contact.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field.
  • CFA designation required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the asset management industry, focusing on fixed income portfolios.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, database management, and Bloomberg.
  • Solid understanding of financial markets and the asset management business processes.
  • Track record of successfully managing fixed income portfolios and engaging effectively with clients.
  • Ability to collaborate efficiently in team settings and work cross-departmentally.
  • Experience with risk management and strategic planning within the asset management sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing market conditions and regulatory environments.
  • Leadership experience with the capacity to mentor junior staff and lead by example.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate investment opportunities and market risks.
