About the position

The Portfolio Manager (PfM) is responsible for managing sub-portfolios and their corresponding ITEC subcommittees within a healthcare system. This role focuses on governance and execution of all programs and projects to promote operational excellence and business growth. The PfM supervises, coaches, and mentors project resources, ensuring that all projects within their sub-portfolio are delivered on scope, on budget, and on schedule. The position requires strong project financial management abilities and effective communication skills to report on project progress and health to the PMO Director.

Responsibilities

  • Manage sub-portfolios and ITEC subcommittees for governance and execution of programs and projects.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor project resources assigned to the portfolio.
  • Ensure all projects remain on scope, on budget, and on schedule.
  • Provide oversight over projects and programs within the sub-portfolio.
  • Serve as an advisor and escalation point to program and project managers.
  • Develop project charters and work breakdown structures.
  • Perform meeting management and communicate project progress/status.
  • Enforce quality management and manage risks, issues, and changes.
  • Maintain up-to-date project documentation in the PMO repository.
  • Foster positive relationships with project team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, or related technical field required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, or related technical field required.
  • Over 10 years of total post-collegiate relevant professional experience required.
  • 6 years of project management experience leading IT projects in a hospital setting required.
  • 5 years of coaching and mentoring experience required.
  • 2 years of implementing technology solutions in a healthcare provider environment required.
  • Mastery of project management tools and techniques required.
  • Ability to facilitate working sessions with large, cross-functional teams required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Project, Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint required.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills required.
