The Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing larger commercial credits, ensuring that the portfolio meets soundness, profitability, and growth objectives. This role provides essential credit and sales support to the Commercial Lending team. The Portfolio Manager will work closely with lenders to oversee all aspects of the local loan portfolio, which includes conducting annual reviews, managing past dues, ensuring covenant compliance, and utilizing various portfolio management tools. The position requires active participation in the loan process, including calling, underwriting, presenting throughout the credit approval chain, and closing deals. In addition to managing the portfolio, the Portfolio Manager will identify and collect all relevant information necessary to analyze credit requests. This includes coordinating with Credit Analysts to prepare Loan Approval Requests (LARs), credit memos, financial spreads, and related documentation. The role also involves serving as a secondary contact for client relationships and identifying cross-sell opportunities with both new and existing clients. The Portfolio Manager will prepare commitment letters and review loan documents, assisting lenders in their prospecting efforts. The position requires a strong understanding of credit policy, banking regulations, and loan documentation issues. The Portfolio Manager must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers. Time management and personal organization skills are essential, as the role requires effective workload prioritization to meet deadlines. Participation in compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering training, is also a requirement.
