About the position

The Portfolio Manager (PM) plays a crucial role in supporting the Relationship Manager (RM) sales efforts by managing and developing loan portfolios to ensure positive performance. The PM is responsible for assessing risk, conducting financial and credit analysis, and contributing to client relationships, all while adhering to compliance and operational guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Review documents for pre- and post-closing, ensuring compliance with FirstBank guidelines.
  • Prepare, review, and monitor reports for compliance and credit monitoring.
  • Analyze credit requests and perform financial statement analysis using standardized tools.
  • Monitor reports on loan commitments and outstanding balances by various metrics.
  • Collaborate with market leadership and Regional Credit Officers to support RM efforts.
  • Monitor past due information and future maturities, alerting RMs as necessary.
  • Analyze key financial metrics for commercial loan risk rating matrices.
  • Research industry and economic trends affecting borrowers' repayment ability.
  • Assist in preparing pitch books for prospective clients.
  • Participate in the sales process as part of the RM team.
  • Attend meetings and represent the PM/RM teams as needed.
  • Provide consistent service to all clients, ensuring a positive FirstBank experience.
  • Adhere to safe banking procedures and compliance regulations.
  • Conduct independent analysis of credit requests and challenge loan approvals as needed.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of source documentation and credit analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in banking, specifically in loan operations, lending, or credit.
