About the position

The Portfolio Manager at Welty Energy will play a crucial role in fostering client relationships, enhancing staff engagement, and driving process improvements. This position is integral to the management team, focusing on delivering exceptional consulting services to electric utilities in the designated geographic region. The Portfolio Manager will lead a team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators, ensuring a safety-focused culture and a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and open communication.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators managing transmission and distribution projects.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with designated clients, advocating for Welty Energy's services.
  • Promote a safety-focused culture within the team.
  • Provide consultation and expertise on team projects as needed.
  • Collaborate with other Portfolio Managers and groups to share resources and support project delivery.
  • Develop processes and solutions to achieve excellence and client centricity.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for client software, tools, and processes.
  • Provide training and career development guidance to team members.
  • Assist in pursuing new business opportunities with existing and potential clients.
  • Support strategic initiatives alongside the Executive Vice President and Portfolio Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience managing projects.
  • Experience in electric utility project management preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience managing people preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn client's systems, tools, and processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in consulting roles within the electric utility sector.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams and virtual collaboration tools.
