About the position

The Portfolio Manager is responsible for overseeing the credit approval process, managing client interactions, and ensuring compliance with loan documentation and requirements. This role involves evaluating financial analyses, negotiating deal structures, and mentoring credit analysts. The Portfolio Manager plays a crucial role in managing credit risk and exposure for an assigned portfolio, ensuring the integrity of loan processes and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation of credit requests including new originations, renewals, modifications, and prospect briefings.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of approval documentation in the loan approval process.
  • Evaluate structures, quality, integrity, and soundness of all financial analysis.
  • Complete all credit request package documents, such as risk ratings and financial analysis.
  • Underwrite companies with risk exposure to the bank.
  • Complete approval and commitment processes ensuring compliance with Credit Policy.
  • Negotiate and communicate final deal structure and terms with clients and Sales team.
  • Visit clients to review performance and financials, serving as the primary liaison for client prospects.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to credit analysts and lending assistants.
  • Authenticate all post-loan closing activities for accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance on loan covenants and documentation requirements.
  • Proactively manage credit risk and exposure for assigned portfolio.
  • Conduct formal credit review processes and audits.
  • Review assigned portfolio and related files for accuracy and completeness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in a Senior Credit, Loan or Workout position, or 3+ years in a Credit or Loan Workout Officer position, or 2+ years in a Commercial Lending Officer position.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and work independently.
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles, and Credit Policy.
