About the position

As a Portfolio Manager, you will work closely with complex High Net Worth Investors to understand their unique investment objectives, spending policies, and overall financial goals. Your role will involve creating customized investment strategies that align with these objectives, ensuring that each client receives personalized guidance and support. You will manage a diverse range of investment vehicles, including individual securities such as stocks, bonds, REITs, and alternative investments, while also overseeing Specialty Assets like Timber, Farm, Oil, and Gas. In this position, you will act as the investment quarterback for client relationships, responsible for evaluating, designing, and overseeing all aspects of portfolio construction. This includes manager selection and the completion of investment policy statements. You will serve as a technical expert, managing complex relationships for clients who require sophisticated investment programs. Your responsibilities will also include meeting with clients to review investment performance, forecasting market changes based on economic and industry analysis, and ensuring that current asset allocations are appropriate. Additionally, you will conduct all aspects of portfolio management, including executing trades, maintaining investment action plans, and monitoring account activities. You will play a crucial role in supporting revenue growth by meeting individual investment management, credit, and deposit goals. Mentoring and coaching junior staff will also be part of your responsibilities, as you help develop the next generation of investment professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Work with complex High Net Worth Investors to create customized investment strategies.
  • Understand strategic investment objectives, spending policy needs, and unique client goals to provide guidance.
  • Manage individual securities, SMAs, alternative investments, and Specialty Assets.
  • Oversee completion of investment policy statements and act as a technical expert in managing client relationships.
  • Support PC teams in communicating the business culture and investment philosophy to prospects and clients.
  • Develop and recommend strategies to achieve clients' investment goals.
  • Meet with clients to review investment performance and forecast market changes.
  • Conduct all aspects of managing portfolios, including executing trades and monitoring account activities.
  • Support revenue growth by meeting individual investment management, credit, and deposit goals.
  • Supervise, mentor, and coach junior staff.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10-15 years of investment decision making and financial consulting experience with high net worth clients.
  • Experience in positions of increasing responsibility within a prestigious financial services firm, particularly in wealth management or private banking.
  • Knowledge of fiduciary and financial products and services acquired through extensive work experience.
  • Broad-based technical knowledge of investments, tax, legal, and operations necessary to service clients.
  • Knowledge of fiduciary standards, principles, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Skills in negotiating, delegating, leadership, superior client service, and relationship management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent experience.
  • Credentials such as CPA, CFP, or CFA designation.
  • Graduate degree such as MBA or JD.
