About the position

This role is for a qualified Investment Operations individual to lead a team focused on operational excellence for key strategic clients within State Street's Middle Office Alpha Strategy business. The position emphasizes client-centric service, problem-solving, and team leadership, contributing to the overall success of the investment operations function.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team monitoring portfolio health for assigned accounts, addressing issues related to cash, settlements, valuation, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Perform pre/post cycle reviews and oversee operational functions within the control framework.
  • Interact with middle office, custody, and leadership colleagues, as well as custodians, asset managers, prime brokers, and accounting agents.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers, advocating for their needs and addressing urgent items.
  • Guide team members and other teams procedurally, presenting solutions to challenges and acting as an escalation point for issues.
  • Problem-solve escalated issues and proactively review operational controls, particularly in reconciliation functions.
  • Develop and present logs and reports on systematic and one-off issues in the control environment for customers.
  • Manage and develop staff across multiple global locations, ensuring operational quality and risk management control.
  • Monitor metrics and SLA adherence, participating in manager meetings and implementing process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-7 years of financial services experience with strong management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Strong customer service acumen and experience managing staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Keen understanding of the investment process in Capital Markets, including Equity, Fixed Income, Alternatives, and Money Markets.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or CFA certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity or direct experience with middle office services is a plus.
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
