About the position

The Ports and Marine Project Manager at Stantec is responsible for leading and managing complex projects within the maritime industry, focusing on port and harbor infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team of planners, engineers, and technologists to deliver high-quality consulting services to public and private sector clients. The position emphasizes project management, technical delivery, and business leadership, with a strong commitment to quality and safety in all operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead successful delivery of high-quality projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Effectively collaborate with others and lead design teams.
  • Identify project schedule and cost variances and develop corrective action plans.
  • Prepare and present information to clients, the public, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop project scope, budget, and design approach for a range of project sizes.
  • Support technical delivery on a variety of port project types.
  • Perform quality reviews and provide technical guidance and oversight.
  • Complete assigned tasks at high quality levels while meeting schedule expectations.
  • Develop engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Author project reports and contribute to proposal technical approaches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, including at least 2 years in a project management role.
  • Working knowledge of relevant port and waterfront design guidelines.
  • Experience in preparation of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with project teams, owners, and clients.
  • Ability to produce technical reports and memorandums as well as contribute to proposals.
  • Strong project management skills including oversight of project teams' budget and schedule performance.
  • Proficient with STAAD software for structural finite element modeling or equivalent software packages.
  • Experience with CAD/BIM software including AutoCAD and Revit.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong grasp of seismic, mooring, and berthing design of marine structures.
  • Marine structures inspection and rehabilitation expertise.
  • Experience working for port authorities and private marine terminal companies.
  • Involvement in technical standards committees for COPRI, PIANC, and local jurisdictions.
  • Post-graduate degree in civil/structural engineering or related field.
  • Certificate in Port Engineering.
