The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking a Post Doc Research Associate specializing in Materials Science to join our multi-disciplinary team focused on energy storage research. This position will primarily involve investigating cutting-edge technologies in high energy density lithium-sulfur batteries. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of liquid electrolytes with appropriate solvation structures using new solvents, salts, and additives. Additionally, the role includes the development of lithium metal anodes featuring a 3D structure and proper protection membranes to enable stable cycling of lithium-sulfur batteries. The candidate will also engage in the characterization of electrochemical and morphological properties, as well as the investigation of electrode/electrolyte interphases. Responsibilities extend to preparing manuscripts for publication, presenting research findings at national and international conferences, and developing innovative ideas for funded research projects.
