About the position

The University of Minnesota's Department of Surgery is seeking a full-time Post-Doctoral Associate to engage in basic and translational research, focusing on developing novel NGS-based methods for diagnostics and cancer therapy. The role emphasizes virology and cancer biology, requiring active participation in research studies, project development, and scientific communication.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of research studies in NGS-based diagnostics and cancer therapy.
  • Develop research ideas, projects, and study protocols.
  • Prepare and present abstracts for podium or poster at scientific meetings.
  • Write and submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements

  • Ph.D., MD, or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Experience in molecular biology, next-gen sequencing, virology, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in running scientific projects as an independent researcher.
  • Willingness to participate in high-level scientific planning and execution.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in next-gen sequencing library preparation and data analysis.
  • Experience with gene delivery and therapeutic genetic intervention.
  • Strong writing skills with first-author peer-reviewed publications.
