About the position

The University of Minnesota is seeking a Post-Doctoral Associate/Senior Scientist in the Department of Neuroscience, specifically for the Integrated Circuit Neuroscience labs. This role focuses on examining the circuit and network mechanisms underlying rodent behavior, utilizing advanced imaging techniques and participating in all aspects of research from conception to dissemination. The position offers opportunities for collaboration, training, and competition for early career fellowships.

Responsibilities

  • Examine circuit and network mechanisms underlying rodent behavior.
  • Investigate real-time dynamic interactions between genetically targeted neuron types during attentional paradigms and virtual navigation.
  • Utilize cutting-edge techniques including cellular resolution voltage and calcium imaging in behaving animals.
  • Participate in all aspects of the project from conception to data acquisition, analyses, and dissemination of work.
  • Train graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Collaborate with other labs in the department.
  • Compete for early career fellowships.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in life sciences or engineering with a strong background in cellular, circuits, or systems neuroscience.
  • At least 2-4 years of postdoctoral experience for consideration as a senior scientist.
  • Experience with live tissue/live animal fluorescence imaging and/or slice electrophysiology.
  • Prior experience with stereotaxic rodent surgeries, including intracranial viral vector infusions and cranial window implantations, subcortical cannular implantations, and/or animal behavioral assays.
  • Excellent track record evidenced by first-author publications and conference presentations.
  • Knowledge of programming languages, such as MATLAB, for data acquisition and analyses.
