About the position

The Post Doctoral Research Associate in Sensor-Based Irrigation Agronomy at Texas Tech University is responsible for conducting specialized research in irrigation management and water conservation. This role involves planning, executing, and supervising original research projects, particularly those associated with PhD studies. The associate will work under the guidance of graduate faculty, focusing on integrating ground and aerial moisture sensing systems to enhance water productivity in agricultural settings. The position is designed for a three-year term, with a flexible start date, and includes opportunities for supervising research assistants and engaging in data analysis and publication efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct hypothesis-driven research using ground and aerial moisture sensing systems.
  • Develop new tools or methods for enhancing water conservation in small-scale research plots and producer fields.
  • Extend innovative technology tested on research plots to producer fields across various cropping and water management systems.
  • Act as a point of contact for data analysis, interpretation, and reporting based on information from producers in the Texas Alliance for Water Conservation network.
  • Engage in data analysis, interpretation, and the development of peer-reviewed publications and project reports.
  • Participate in developing proposals related to water conservation and efficient irrigation management.
