About the position

The Physics Department at South Dakota Mines is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist to join its Experimental Dark Matter group. This full-time position involves working on direct dark matter searches, specifically the LZ and SuperCDMS projects. Responsibilities

• Work on the analysis of the LZ dark matter search project.
• Contribute to the construction, testing, and analysis of the SuperCDMS project.
• Engage in research and development for future dark matter experiments.
• Prototype designs to mitigate backgrounds due to radon daughters.

Requirements

• PhD in particle astrophysics, high-energy physics, nuclear physics, or a related field.
• Experience with low-noise electronics and cryogenic systems.
• Knowledge of detector development and radiation detection techniques.
• Familiarity with low-background techniques, data acquisition, and data analysis.
