The Zhao Lab at the Center for Cardiovascular Research, Nationwide Children's Hospital and The Ohio State University, is seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to contribute to groundbreaking research in congenital heart disease using human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). This position is immediately available and offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, organoid technology, and single-cell genomics. The lab's primary focus is to investigate the molecular and genetic mechanisms underlying cardiovascular development and congenital heart disease, aiming to establish a cause-consequence relationship for genetic variants associated with cardiovascular diseases. The successful candidate will engage in a variety of research activities, including cardiac differentiation and organoid induction, designing and conducting scientific experiments, and analyzing data to derive meaningful conclusions. The role also involves writing and publishing scientific manuscripts, contributing to grant submissions for external funding, and obtaining postdoctoral fellowships and career development awards from organizations such as the American Heart Association (AHA) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This position is ideal for young investigators who aspire to establish an independent academic career in biomedical research within the next few years. The Zhao Lab is well-funded by prestigious institutions, including the NIH/NHLBI and the AHA, and offers competitive salaries along with relocation bonuses for qualified candidates. The Center for Cardiovascular Research also provides an NIH-funded T32 postdoctoral program that emphasizes interdisciplinary and translational research training in congenital and acquired heart disease, in collaboration with The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
