About the position

The Post-Release Services (ORR) - Level 3 Clinician at Vista Del Mar is a critical role focused on providing comprehensive case management services to unaccompanied minors released from federal custody. This position requires a dedicated and compassionate individual who can independently problem-solve in crisis situations, ensuring the safety and stabilization of children in their new homes and communities. The clinician will conduct thorough assessments, provide crisis intervention, and advocate for the rights and well-being of these vulnerable youth, while also collaborating with various community resources and service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct weekly and then monthly in-person assessments of each unaccompanied child's needs, strengths, and challenges.
  • Provide crisis intervention and ongoing case management services to unaccompanied minors.
  • Assist youth in accessing education, medical care, mental health services, and legal assistance.
  • Develop individualized strength-based, goal-oriented service plans and monitor progress.
  • Advocate for the rights and well-being of unaccompanied minors within the community.
  • Conduct outreach and education to community service providers to address the unique needs of immigrant children.
  • Assist youth in enrolling in educational programs and developing life skills for self-sufficiency.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, progress notes, and reports.
  • Collaborate with local organizations and service providers to enhance support networks for unaccompanied minors.
  • Work closely with colleagues, including social workers and legal professionals, to provide comprehensive care.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or other behavioral science with direct clinical experience as a program requirement, or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience.
  • Knowledge of community social services and specialization in conducting home studies and working with immigrant populations.
  • Experience working with ORR preferred.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • 2 years of case management experience within child welfare programs, preferably with immigrant or refugee populations.
  • Valid CA Driver's License.
