About the position

The Postdoctoral position in Nucleic Acids Simulation at Rutgers University focuses on performing advanced free energy simulations of nucleic acid systems. The role involves utilizing innovative computational methods to address significant challenges in enzyme design and drug discovery, contributing to the development of cutting-edge technology in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced free energy simulations of nucleic acid systems, including nucleic acid enzymes and riboswitches.
  • Develop and apply innovative methods and workflows for free energy simulations using AI-enhanced quantum mechanical force fields.
  • Integrate new methods into the next-generation Amber software suite.
  • Contribute to the design of new deep-learning potentials and neural networks for predicting nucleic acid targeting small molecules.
  • Engage in software development, testing, and documentation.
  • Maintain currency in relevant literature and state-of-the-art technology.
  • Participate in team meetings and workshops, both physical and virtual.

Requirements

  • PhD in physical chemistry.
  • Experience in nucleic acid simulations, including modeling of divalent metal ion-nucleic acid interactions and catalysis.
  • Familiarity with AMBER software is strongly encouraged.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and prepare scientific manuscripts and/or proposals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with quantum mechanical/molecular mechanical methods.
  • Knowledge of free energy path methods, such as finite temperature string methods.
